Community Partnerships between organizations is a great way to collaborate and build relationships to address common goals. These partnerships provide organizations the opportunity to join forces, gain knowledge and outreach that can be vital to the community to reach mutual objectives. Partnerships can maximize the positive impact you can have on a focused population.
Nonprofit organizations can highly benefit from these relationships. They can provide you access to people and knowledge, innovation, long-term relationships, reputation, and credibility. You can attain new board members, staff, volunteers, and even donors. Brewster Place has built multiple relationships over the years and we are thankful for each one. We plan to continue to build on our current connections and continue to create new ones.
The Shepherd’s Center of Topeka (SCT) is committed to helping seniors remain active by offering educational, social, physical, and spiritual programs. They provide services that are proven to improve the quality of life of senior adults. Participating in classes, activities, and events is essential to building relationships and thriving. SCT is an organization operated by members who volunteer their time and talents under a director and board’s guidance
They are a nonprofit organization that provides a cornerstone program called “Adventures in Learning.” This program is a time for learning, socializing, and catching up on what’s happening at SCT. It provides an opportunity to meet other members and learn more about our community partners. As one of the many community partners for the Shepherds Center, Brewster Place was honored to share information about our campus and the programs we provide for our residents and for members of our community.
Meals on Wheels of Eastern Kansas is a nonprofit organization that Brewster Place is connected to. Meals on Wheels aims to provide a hot and nutritious meal to homebound seniors in the surrounding counties. This program not only provides a meal but also provides a safety check for the Meals on Wheels recipients and brings peace of mind to their loved ones. Brewster Place staff delivers a route each week for the organization. We believe in their mission and love to help.
Harvesters are another great organization that Brewster has collaborated with in the past. They are a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. They provide food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes, and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.
In the spring of 2020, Brewster held a food drive for Harvesters. We filled Harvester barrels that ended up weighing a total of 169 pounds and provided 141 meals for our community!
